Go cart buildup into a trail buggy

Welding, cutting and fab work required. Bumpers, sliders, not simple bolt ons.

Go cart buildup into a trail buggy

Picked up a used Manco Express 606 2 seater go cart to upgrade into a great buggy for the kids. It has a Robin 6.5 169 cc ex17D engine with comet clutch. Same clutch I had on my honda odysseys.

Stock. With a leaky carb, seized throttle cable, rotted seat, bald frt tires, worn drive belt and some bent swing arms.

Here is the 1-2" travel shocks and bent front end.

Going to convert to dual a arms.

I was thinking about it. Using a 4wd ATV parts. But for now just a 2wd with ATV tires and better suspension. Something for my kids to cruise around.

Ordered new seats and belts and drive belt.

Last night I stripped off all the old seat belt tabs and seat tabs. All stickers are gone. Today I picked up 21' of 1" tube to reinforce the roof and make new seat mounts and seat belt mounts. I had to find a new steel place, my local place shut down. Also picked up 1" square steel for new lower control arms. The right side one is so bent. Just going to make 2 new ones.

Have a great idea of using a ATV front spindle, knuckle and disc brakes. This will also convert the front to atv bolt pattern.

Plan is to add bigger ATV tires with front disc brakes.

Need to find an atv junk yard. I need the frt suspension and master cylinder and some new rims and tires.

Sunday I did some welding for the first time in a while. I built some new A arms and extended the wheel base 2". I found some new bigger tires and wheels at a thrift shop.

The seats and belts came in. Now to make them fit. The 6" wider than the space. :sawzall

I could use it whenever. I can meet your son in Denton if that helps.

I got one of the bucket seats installed. There 21" wide. The stock bench was 24". I had to cut the seat, move the side rails and move the steering column 2" over.
