Ol Jasper and cameron_garrison should have some good insight on this.

if you're not dovetailing it, it seems pretty straightforward. just cut ahead of the taillights, then rearward of the wheel wells, then weld together. it seems the biggest issues i've seen dealt with where/how to cut the frame.

keep us posted!

i figured that's what got you motivated. when i picked up the taillight i saw his truck also and of course am real jealous, especially because he's on 36s and gets better mpg than my minivan on 33s.

thanks guys im lglad ive motivated you to mod the truck here are the tricks ive learned

1. decide were the first cut is going to be
2 use a laser level to mark the line strait down
3 tape the line
4 use big cut off wheel to cut it take your time it will pay off
5 measure around and see how far you can cut up should be around 14 inches its going to depend on were the body mount is now you could get creative and move the mount forward and make your rear shackle hanger part of your bumper then you should be able to cut 5-6 more inches off
6make lines all the way around the deired measurement and do the second cut
7then test fit

i dont really have pictures of it mine are all screwed up and i forgot the camera when we did divels ill look around for some good links tomorrow theres a few that i know of i just have to find them

Sounds like you got a pretty good plan. Jst remember when you weld it back up is that its mainly jst a billion tacks and that it doesn't have to be real pretty. thats what the body filler is for lol I'm really looking forward to seeing some picks. If I were you I would go to pirate4x4.com and search the toyota truck and 4runner and the tacoma section for bobing, bobbing, however u spell it. There is a ton of info on this there.

Good Luck :sawzall

:what: What's the best machine for welding on the truck bed? I have a gas powered Miller weldor and I have never weld on thin stuff before. I need some input because i don't want to cut the bed and then get stuck. Thanks in advance,
