Bigger fuel injectors?

Postby NissanNut » Sun Jun 21, 2009 8:31 pm

Can I just install slightly larger injectors?

I found out the stock 90-97 w/d21 vg30e injectors are 200cc. The vg30de use 270cc NA and 370 Twin turbo. Apparently 90-92 style plug right in my truck.

I know more fuel can equal more power. I have installed larger carbs on my old trucks and dunebuggys.

I still cant find what the vg33e in the frontier/xterra (w/d22) or quest specs are. Goggle does not work.

Anyone know what vg33 injector specs are?

No way in calling RC Engineering on this?

If you install slightly larger injectors, not sure if the ECU can lean out the mixture anymore? I know +/-15% is the most the stock ECU can go.

You may have to install an ApexI Super AFC or something. I actually have that installed in my truck as we speak.

ApexI Super AFC thats pretty cool. I hope I dont need one. I plan to add a wideband O2 sensor just to measure fuel ratio. Just in case.

I think I will call RCENG again. They are very helpful. But dont sell side feed injectors. I wish I could find more specs on these things.

I saw some vg33/vg30 quest injectors on ebay. Same injectors for both engines it said. I guess its possible since the ECU can adjust.

Well after talking to the Nistune installer the other day. He said it will not work. I need nistune if I want to change injectors.

Yeah Barry, I have been looking into all of this tuning for VERY long time. Its been about a year for me piecing together a turbo set-up. Something is definitely needeed to tune bigger injectors. Those Apexi safc help.... but they can only correct up to a certain percentage. Nistune is amazing. But i still dont know how to exactly fully tune it. Like I said before, I am going to run stock 300zx TT 370cc injectors and a 300zx MAF. I need nistune. For n/a engines, you can prob tune the ignition curve way advanced for some good torque.

I thought all the VG30 injectors were roughly 180cc?

Yes they are side feed injectors, i just have not found any larger than the stock 270cc size. I need 370cc for my turbo.
